OBL commission report expected by end of Dec: Justice Javed

ISLAMABAD: Chief of the Abbattobad Commission, Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal said the investigation into the US raid that killed Al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden is expected to be completed by the end of December, Geo News reported.

While briefing the media, Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal said the commission would recommend to the government to make the report public.

The commission has also sent a questionnaire to President Asif Ali Zardari as the co-chairman of the PPP.

When the chief of the commission was asked if the person killed in the compound was Osama Bin Laden, he replied that if that question was answered there would be nothing left to tell.

He said statements of more than 100 witnesses have been recorded during the 20 investigating sessions of the commission.

Justice Javed Iqbal said the commission also carried out five field visits to the OBL compound for investigation.

The commission also reviewed the way through which US helicopters entered the premises.

The commission is investigating the May 2, 2011 raid conducted by US Navy Seals in Abbottabad in which Osama bin Laden was killed.
